It may not be able to launch a 90 kilogram projectile over 300 meters, but this little catapult can throw just about anything you can fit in the bucket. Join the physics group at ASU's Polytechnic campus in this demonstration to learn how to build your own personal siege engine. This catapult only requires very simple materials, does not take very long to build, and is easy to construct so anyone can make one.

Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics (CBBG) researchers mimic the natural formation of sandstone and increase soil strength through biomineralization process. Take a virtual tour of the CBBG Test Pit on the ASU Polytechnic campus, including the excavation of seven biocemented columns created using Enzyme Induced Carbonate Precipitation (EICP). Make cemented soils at home and discover how engineers are working to develop efficient, ecologically friendly, and cost-effective solutions that are inspired by nature!

Advanced Materials Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory Tour

Our laboratory provides an insightful view of machines that are being used to prepare materials, test their properties, and 3D print the desired products right from hair clips to Airplane components. This quick tour of the laboratory will provide you with the why's and how's of the machinery functions. We are currently working on synthesizing advanced materials with improved performances, and our target is to explore polymer-based composites and hybrid materials through advanced manufacturing regarding their design, fabrication, characterization, and, simulation.
